The Free State Department of Education (FSDoE) in partnership with Kagiso Shanduka Trust (KST) now known as the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, officially handed over infrastructure facilities to three schools in Fezile Dabi on 17 September 2019.

Phitsana Primary School in Heilbron received three newly built Grade R classrooms. While at Nkgopoleng Secondary School in Sasolburg, learners celebrated a renovated library and physical sciences lab and Kahobotjha-Sakubusha Secondary School also received a renovated physical sciences lab. About R1 200 000 was injected into the building and renovation of the four facilities.

KST and the FSDoE entered into a collaboration in 2013 to implement a District Whole School Development model in two districts – Fezile Dabi and Motheo districts. This model looks into educator capacitation, leadership and infrastructure development to schools selected and agreed upon with the department.

The two entities agreed to co-fund the implementation of the programme, each contributing R200million. The primary objective was to improve the quality of the FSDoE system in its wholeness.
