
85 officials and SMMEs from the departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Community Safety, Roads & Transport, Education, DESTEA, Health, Human Settlements and Public Works were afforded a skills development opportunity at Senai ( Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial- National Service for Industrial Training) in Brazil. A total of 20 Educators joined this cohort.
What was supposed to be a 2-year programme, our students worked day and night without rest to complete in a year and obtain outstanding results in Biomedical Equipment & maintenance, Automative repairs and maintenance, Metal Mechanics, Civil Construction, refrigeration, and air conditioning from May to December 2018.
Today our students finally received their certificates after a long process of notarisation, legalization, and evaluation of foreign qualifications. They will now be able to utilize their certificates for job and project applications.
“The Department of Education was the coordinating department for this mission, and it was not an easy task. However, we beam with pride today for the investment in these individuals and in the vocational schools that will benefit from their skills”- HOD Education, Adv Malakoane.
MEC Mohale said “This is the direction in which we want to see Education in this province and country moving. Developing skills and knowledge beyond academics and building a strong economy”.
“Use what you have learned abroad to improve and fortify government services and even your own lives” said Premier Mxolisi Dukwana.
