FREE STATE EDUCATION CELEBRATES THE CLASS OF 2025 PERFORMANCE

The top 100 learners from the Class of 2025

“We take this moment to congratulate all our top-performing learners in the 2025 National Senior Certificate examinations, particularly those who are among the top 100 in their performance.
This distinguished group; reflects the dedication, discipline, and excellence that defines Free State education.

While the cohort was dominated by girl learners, with 20 964 registered, the overall pass rate shows that boy learners, with 17 241 registered, slightly outperformed girls, achieving 90.5% compared to 88.4%. Importantly, the quality of results was driven by girl learners, who contributed the largest share of Bachelor passes, at 44.0%.
Special recognition goes to Bokang Vincent Mokubung of Bluegumbosch Secondary School, provincial Best Overall Achiever in Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
We take profound pride in the way Bokang represented the Free State on the national stage, carrying the aspirations of our province with distinction and excellence as the top performer in the category of Quintile 3 schools nationally.

We also recognize the provincial Overall Top Achiever, Johannes Deysel of Jim Fouche Secondary School, excelling in Mathematics. Your achievements inspire your peers and communities, setting a high standard of excellence and pride for the province.”

DISTRICT PERFORMANCE

“While we celebrate the overall strength of the Free State, it is important to reflect honestly on district-level performance. We are pleased to announce that all our districts performed at above 85%, with Mangaung Metro Education District leading the pack with an astounding 92.0% pass rate and a Bachelor Pass rate of 49.9%, ranking it among the top districts in the country!

All our districts continue to demonstrate competitive performance relative to national benchmarks, reflecting the commitment and professionalism of educators and school leadership across the province.

PERFORMANCE PER MUNICIPALITY

Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality leads the province with an outstanding 92.0% pass rate, followed closely by Phumelela at 91.8%! ” – MEC Dr Mamiki Maboya
