MEC Mohale grew up in Botshabelo, a township east of Bloemfontein in the Free State Province.
He is a former provincial chairperson of the African National Congress Youth League and served for two terms.
He holds an LLB degree from the University of South Africa and a BCom degree from the University of the Free State. He also holds three post-graduate diplomas in various legal fields from the University of Johannesburg.
MEC Mohale became active in politics while he was a student at the University of the Free State. He served as the branch chairperson of the South African Student Congress at the university between 2002 and 2003. He was SASCO’s provincial secretary from 2003 to 2004.
MEC Mohale also served as the branch chairperson of the National Education, Health, and Allied Workers’ Union from 2006 to 2007.
He worked in various senior management positions in the local government from 2007 to 2013.
He has also occupied senior positions in various departments, viz. Director in the Free State Department of Police, Roads, and Transport from 2013 to 2015, and the Chief Director in the Department of Human Settlements from 2015 till 2019.
In May 2019, he was then appointed as the MEC for Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
In March 2023, he was then appointed as MEC for Education.
